Well, it looks like we let our lives (and the music!) get ahead of us, and we haven't updated our website in a while!
We all have had a busy year! Diane sent a daughter off to college, April got married, Nell began a new job, and Dave has worked hard on some high profile cases with his law firm. But, no matter what, we always find time to get together and share our love of music.
Most recently, we have had the pleasure of performing at two weddings this September. With our bright, cooler September weather in Idaho, it made playing music at these outdoor weddings a great pleasure.
The first wedding was at the Shakespeare Festival ampitheater. There, we played in a small wedding ceremony and reception on a sunny Saturday afternoon. It was beautiful under the trees, and the bride and groom chose charming music for their simple, heartfelt ceremony. The couple's daughters walked down the aisle to When You Wish Upon a Star, (which Diane just recently arranged for our string quartet) and the bride entered to Ashokan Farewell, a beautiful piece that features Nell's great solo talents on the violin. For the reception, we got to enjoy a combination of great classical and baroque pieces, plus our favorite tangos and a medley from The Phantom of the Opera....
Our second wedding was at the bishop's house by the Idaho State Penitentiary. The bishop's house is an old, stately home (which is now managed by the Penitentiary) with a large wraparound porch and a lush garden that made a perfect site for a wedding. Though we played through some menacing thunder and a few powerful gusts of wind, there wasn't a drop of rain all evening. Instead, we got to smell all the blooming flowers from the porch while we played elegant Baroque classics like Sheep May Safely Graze, Pachelbel's Canon in D, and the familiar Wedding March by Wagner. By the time we finished playing our reception playlist and their DJ was ready to begin mixing his dance tunes, it felt like hardly any time had passed! Sometimes, it just feels like we could play all night!
With those two lovely weddings, we have had a great start to the fall season. We are also looking forward to playing more music as we move into winter. The Meridian Symphony Orchestra (of which Diane, Nell, and Dave are members) has performances coming up on October 26th and December 7th, and April is playing in the pit orchestra for the Music Theater of Idaho's production of Pirates of Penzance in October. (Check our links page for links to the MSO and MTI websites.) We also have weddings already scheduled in November and December, so we have begun preparing playlists for them already!
The weather is starting to cool off - but our musical season is just heating up! Send us a message if you'd like us to share our love for music with you and create the perfect atmosphere for your event!
